Dental SEO usually costs between $1,000 and $3,000 a month for a US practice. A competitive city or several locations can push it to $5,000 and beyond. I checked six pricing guides that rank on Google for this question, and every one of their monthly ranges includes $1,500 to $2,000.
Our own plans are $1,200, $2,000 and $3,500 a month, with no setup fee. I'll show what each one buys further down, but first, what the market says.
What Six Pricing Guides Quote
The average cost of dental SEO, going by what's published, sits in the low thousands per month. Here are the monthly ranges from the guides ranking for "dental SEO cost", word for word where I could. Most are written by agencies, so read them as asking prices, not survey data.
| Source | Monthly range they publish | Who it's for |
|---|---|---|
| Studio 8E8 | $500 to $2,000 | What their successful SEO clients spend |
| Pexnet | $500 to $3,000 | A US dental practice |
| Titan Web Agency | About $1,000 to $3,000 | Solo or small group practices, most markets |
| RevUp Dental | $1,000 to $3,000 | Dental SEO services in general |
| SEO.com | $1,500 to $5,000 | Dental SEO on average |
| Distribb | $1,500 to $5,000, or $5,000 to $10,000+ | A specialist agency; competitive metros or multi-location |
Checked October 8, 2026. SEO.com also lists $100 to $300 an hour for consulting and $5,000 to $30,000 for one-off projects.
Why Quotes Vary So Much
Two agencies can quote $800 and $4,000 for "dental SEO" and both be honest. The price follows the amount of work, and the work depends on:
- Your market. Ranking a practice in a small town takes less than ranking one in Houston or Los Angeles.
- The treatments you want. Implants, Invisalign and veneers are worth more per case, so more practices compete for them.
- Number of locations. Each location has its own Google Business Profile and its own Maps competition.
- Where you're starting. A site with no treatment pages, or a profile with wrong details, needs fixing before anything grows.
- Content and links each month. These are the biggest cost lines in most plans, and the easiest to cut quietly in a cheap one.
How much does dental marketing cost in total? SEO is only one line of it. Budgets for Google Ads or social media ads are paid on top, straight to those platforms, so compare SEO quotes with SEO quotes.
What the Money Actually Buys
Dental SEO packages usually bundle website work with local SEO: your Google Business Profile, listings and reviews. In ours, local SEO is part of every plan, so there's no separate local SEO fee. (If you'd rather start on your own, our Google Business Profile guide for dentists covers the free part.) Here's what each package includes each month. Use it as a checklist, whoever you hire:
| Each month | Starter, $1,200 | Growth, $2,000 | Authority, $3,500 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pages optimized | 5 | 10 | Unlimited |
| Google Business Profile | Optimization + 4 posts | Management + 8 posts + Q&A | Management for up to 3 locations |
| Citations built | 20 | 40 | 40, as in Growth |
| Backlinks earned | None | 3 to 5 | 8 to 12 |
| New content | 1 piece, 800 to 1,000 words | 2 pieces, 1,200 to 1,500 words | 4 pieces, 1,500 to 2,500 words |
| Keywords tracked weekly | Not included | 50 | 150 |
| Strategy calls | Monthly report | Monthly, 30 minutes | Every two weeks, with a dedicated account manager |
Full details are on our dental SEO pricing page. If a quote you have doesn't list numbers like these, ask for them. "Ongoing optimization" isn't a deliverable.
Retainer, Project or Hourly?
| Model | Good for | Watch for |
|---|---|---|
| Monthly retainer | Growing rankings over months: content, links, profile updates, reports | Long lock-in contracts and vague monthly work |
| One-off project | An audit, a site rebuild, fixing technical problems | Rankings rarely hold if the work stops after launch |
| Hourly consulting | Practices with in-house marketing staff who need direction | You still need someone to do the work |
Red Flags at Both Ends
The cheapest and the most confident quotes are where I'd be most careful.
- Too cheap. Pexnet, Titan Web Agency and RevUp Dental all warn about packages around $300 a month. At that price there isn't time for real pages or real links.
- A #1 ranking promise. Google's own advice is blunt: "No one can guarantee a #1 ranking on Google."
- Long contracts with no exit. If the work is good, you shouldn't need a 12-month lock-in to keep a client.
- No list of monthly work. You should be able to check every page, post and link they say they delivered.
Most agencies aren't bad, in my experience. They're overloaded, and an overloaded agency runs the same checklist for every client. A specific plan for your practice, before you sign, is the best sign you'll get the work you pay for. More on that in how to choose a dental SEO company.
Do the Break-Even Math
Price only means something next to what a new patient is worth to you. Use your own numbers:
| Step | Example (use your own numbers) |
|---|---|
| 1. What a new patient pays you in their first year | Say $1,000 |
| 2. Your monthly SEO cost | $2,000 |
| 3. Divide 2 by 1 | 2 new patients a month to break even |
The numbers above are only an example. If one implant case covers your fee, your math looks very different from a practice chasing hygiene patients. Either way, ask any agency how they'll show you new patients each month, not just rankings.
Where to Start
The practices I've seen grow fastest didn't start with the most expensive plan. They started by going after searches with real demand and little competition, and by showing real work that made patients trust what they found. That costs less than chasing the hardest keyword in town from day one.
Not sure which level you need? A free audit shows where you stand and what the work would involve, before you spend anything. All our plans are month-to-month with 30 days' notice, and our Maps promise is top 3 for your main keyword in 90 days, or we keep working free until you are.
Questions Dentists Ask
How much does dental SEO cost per month?
Most published quotes for US dental practices fall between about $1,000 and $3,000 a month, with competitive cities and multi-location groups paying more. Six pricing guides we checked in October 2026 all include $1,500 to $2,000 a month in their range. Our plans are $1,200, $2,000 and $3,500 a month.
Is dental SEO worth the cost?
It is worth it when the new patients it brings are worth more than you pay. Work out what a new patient is worth to your practice in their first year, divide your monthly SEO cost by that number, and you have the patients you need each month to break even. Then ask the agency how they will report new patients to you.
Why is dental SEO charged monthly?
Because the work is ongoing: new pages, Google Business Profile updates, listings, links and reports every month, while your competitors keep working too. One-off projects exist, such as an audit or a site fix, but rankings usually need steady work to grow and hold.
What does a $300 dental SEO package include?
Usually very little that moves rankings. Several of the guides we checked warn that packages around $300 a month tend to mean automated directory submissions, thin content and a PDF report. Ask for the exact list of work done each month before you pay for anything.
How much does local SEO cost for a dental practice?
Local SEO, meaning your Google Business Profile, listings and reviews, is usually bundled into a dental SEO plan rather than sold alone. In ours it is included in every plan, starting at $1,200 a month. The profile itself costs nothing: Google lets you add or claim your business at no charge, so you can do the basics yourself first.
How long before dental SEO pays off?
Most practices see ranking movement within 60 to 90 days. For Google Maps, our promise is top 3 for your main keyword within 90 days, or we keep working free until you are. Competitive treatments in large cities usually take longer, often 4 to 6 months.
